Looking for a new challenge in a field that matters? At Engenious Design, we conceptualize, design, program, build, and test medical devices that are used to save lives around the world. We don’t take our job lightly, so we are looking for the best people in their respective fields.

Our teams collaborate on numerous projects which keeps them busy and on their toes. It’s a fast-paced workplace with a spacious electronics lab and an even larger model shop. We employ creative engineers, designers, technicians, and project leaders who are constantly learning new tools and techniques.

Do you have what it takes to be part of this amazing team? We’d love to hear from you.

WHAT PROJECTS OUR CURRENT ELECTRICAL TEAM ENJOYED

MOST IMPACTFUL PROJECTS

We put out a 3rd-world home solar lighting system that also charges small devices. This saves people from burning dirty fuels in their home, or hauling gasoline around to charge their phones. I'm also proud that we are helping design a device that teaches infants how to nurse, so they don't have to be intubated, which can cause life-long scars.

MOST CHALLENGING PROJECTS

I designed a motor driver and processor rigid-flex that folded up into a medical cranial screwdriver that looks like a Star Trek phasor. Or, I’d say an 8-layer PCB for a camera system complete with DSP, custom routed DDR, LVDS, WiFi module, and eMMC all in a 50mm square.

FAVORITE PROJECT AT ENGENIOUS

A pressure sensing cancer drug delivery catheter: the amount of complexity packed into such a small device compounded with the size of the sensor wire just blew my mind. Seeing the huge potential for saving lives was humbling.

MOST CHALLENGING PROJECTS

A temperature-controlled lithium-ion charger with a power path-managed pump motor drive. It had a user interface and I designed it with only discrete logic and no software which eliminated the need for software validation.

FAVORITE PROJECT AT ENGENIOUS

A tiny, wearable Bluetooth device that was no bigger than a stack of four dimes (including the battery). I’m still amazed we were able to get more than 100’ of range out of it, despite a microscopic antenna.

WHO IS ON OUR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER TEAM

Peter Frey Website Bio - Staff Electrical Engineer

Peter Frey

Peter is an experienced electrical engineer with almost 2 decades designing embedded devices – medical devices and FPGA design. He guides our cross-functional product development team on focusing on output quality, electrical architecture, regulatory compliance, risk management, and navigating the more treacherous technical hurdles. His passion is following a requirements-driven design process to produce a quality product in just a few design iterations. A little extra time at the beginning of a project nailing down architecture and requirements minimizes churn!

Griffin Adams

Griffin has almost a decade of experience with electronics design and assembly, test and troubleshooting, and embedded software. His combination of Electronics Technology degree and Engineering Physics degree gives him a unique perspective on product design. His motto to never stop learning drives him to stay informed of technology, trends, and advancements not only in electrical engineering but also in related fields of physics and bioengineering. Griffin has designed PCB’s for consumer electronics that include digital signal processors and DDR memory, and medical devices that need rigid-flex PCBs capable of folding into a handheld device.
