The Engenious Technical Lead is an experienced engineer who has successfully developed new electromechanical product(s) and brought them to market. Their technical understanding traverses multiple engineering disciplines, and they excel at bringing a team of collaborators together. The Lead thrives on charting a path through unknowns and oversees the work of individual contributors: Engineers and Designers. The Lead works closely with clients and project stakeholders, ensuring strong communication, efficient decision making, and execution of technical plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead projects by efficiently creating the technical development plan, rallying the technical team, and demonstrating an infectious sense of urgency and ownership.
- Collaborate with a tight-knit team leading Electrical, Mechanical, Embedded Software, and Test Engineers, concepting, designing, prototyping, debugging, and introducing into manufacturing
- Develop new products from concept to commercialization, and be a part of creating new medical devices and electromechanical products
- Solve technical challenges by driving collaboration with the internal team, partners and customers for efficient resolution
- Demonstrate tact and maturity when dealing with a wide variety of people, acting as a mature, stabilizing influence
- Exhibit excellent communication
- Exemplify a high level of situational awareness (self-aware and others-aware)
- Maintain team focus on the right things and change focus when necessary
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time, non-temporary position. This position works from our Kansas City based design center and is not available as a remote position. The application will require you to verify willingness to relocate to the Kansas City area (if you don’t already live in the KC metro). We will happily relocate you to KC if you don’t already live in the metro area.

REQUIRED SKILLS TO HAVE FOR THE SUCCESS OF THIS ROLE:
- 5+ years of experience in new product development (as engineer or technical lead) with a demonstrable record of bringing products through development and into manufacturing
- Ability to lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver on product development commitments
- Degree in a relevant engineering background (e.g Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, Software)
- Demonstrated experience and success in leading medium and large sophisticated projects/programs
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated abilities to flourish in a fast paced, problem-solving environment.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Medical device experience is preferred but any product development experience is applicable.
