The Senior R&D Engineer brings experience successfully launching physical technology product(s) as an individual contributor and is growing into cross-functional technical leadership.
This key team member works with Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Test Engineers to help identify critical paths, risks, plan, and milestones. They may do less individual design work but participate in design when strategic.
The Senior R&D Engineer has broad knowledge of the end product and can also speak at a highly detailed level for critical topics. They work closely with clients and stakeholders, communicating status, technical details and negotiating project inputs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, execute, and oversee projects from inception to completion
- Coordinate the work of the cross-functional team, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies
- Prepare and present project and technical reports and documentation
- Analyze data and interpret results to guide product development decisions
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time, non-temporary position. This position works from our Kansas City based design center and is not available as a remote position. The application will require you to verify willingness to relocate to the Kansas City area (if you don’t already live in the KC metro). We will happily relocate you to KC if you don’t already live in the metro area.

REQUIRED SKILLS TO HAVE FOR THE SUCCESS OF THIS ROLE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Successful launch of a major product as an individual contributor
- High level of personal organization and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with both Engineers and non-Engineers
- A friendly tenacity to see that things get done for the success of the project
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with medical device design or other regulated environment (FAA, etc.)
